The last stop on my beach road trip through Florida was Miami. I`ve visited Miami a few times before, to take a cruise out of the port and to enjoy the city. Miami has a lot of things to offer and has a certain vibe to it, I can`t compare it with any other city I visited.
What to see?
Miami has gorgeous beaches. I went to South Beach with stretches of powdery white sand with turquoise water inviting you for a swim. Or you can just relax, soak up the sun and go for a beach walk. South Beach is hip and the place to hang out, sip a cocktail and people watch.
What else is there to do?
My time in Miami during this visit was limited, so the main focus was being at the beach. During my previous visit though, I explored the Wynwood Art District on two wheels. Miami is also known for its shopping, clubbing and so much more. Don`t forget the Everglades are nearby for an airboat ride, such a fun experience. (We drove through the Everglades coming from Sanibel to Miami.)
Where to stay?
We stayed at the Angler`s Boutique Resort, located only a block from the beach and close to shops. Not only did this hotel have comfortable beds with the softest sheets but it also had an outdoor pool with private cabanas. This hotel knows how to make you feel at your own little island resort in the middle of a buzzing city.
If you decide to rent a car and are not used to driving in a big city like Miami, you might want to consider just taking a taxi into the city or first getting familiar with your rental before hitting the roads of Miami. Also, finding parking is not a breeze, try car parks that do deals with shopping malls. For example Best Buy offered up to 2 hours free parking.
If you want to read up on Florida, then check out my other stops on this beach trip: Pensacola, Panama City Beach, Apalachicola, Cedar Key, St Augustine, St Petersburg & Clearwater, Anna Maria Island and Sarasota.
