Rise and shine, its a beach day

Coombs House Inn

Coombs House Inn, Apalachicola, Florida

This B & B might not be at the beach, but the feel of the accommodation is coastal. Coombs House Inn is located in Apalachicola on the Florida “Forgotten Coast”, a coastline named like that because it`s quiet and unspoiled. Apalachicola is a cute and quaint town with beautiful houses, boutiques and restaurants to enjoy.

The Coombs House Inn consists of 3 elegant Victorian Mansions. The main house was built by Mr Coombs in 1905 and back then described as “the most elegant house in town”. In the eighties Lynn Wilson, a well known interior designer of luxury hotel properties and her husband looked into buying the property and after negotiations were able to do so. In 1994 the renovation of the Coombs house was completed and named “The Coombs Inn”. In 1998, Lynn and her husband decided to increase the number of guest rooms by buying another large house one block away, called “Coombs Villas”. And in 2007 the Inn was again expanded when they bought the home next door to the Coombs house and called them the “Coombs Veranda Suites”.

Veranda Suites at the Coombs House Inn

We were staying in one of the Veranda Suites, the Biltmore Suite. These Suites are located only a few meters from the main Coombs house. Our two room suite offered a master king bed, a separate lounge area with a chaise lounge, a Jacuzzi (which was perfect to relax after a long day of exploring) and separate shower.

All amenities were available like a mini-fridge, microwave and flat-screen tv. Complimentary wi-fi in the rooms is always a plus in my book. Not to forget, we had our own little private veranda.

We had a lovely (and complimentary) breakfast set up in the morning at the main building. Hot dishes, cereal, fresh fruit, bagels etc.

This B & B, together with the Bungalow Beach Resort we stayed at in Anna Maria Island, were my two favorite accommodations on this Florida road trip. The room, the service and the location made these two places stand out.

There`s plenty of things to do in Apalachicola, like visiting the neighboring St George Island that has been ranked as one of the Top 10 Beaches in the US.

The suite we stayed at starts from US$149* and a room starts from US$ 119*. Check availability for the Coombs House Inn for your own romantic getaway along the Florida coast.

This trip was made possible with the support of Visit Florida. Special thanks to Salty Florida and the Coombs Inn.

I love old homes like this. Wonderful that it’s preserved as an Inn. Beautiful and comfortable looking 🙂

They did an amazing job and the interior was beautiful. Felt like a home away from home.
